Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Smartago LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with your use of Downloader TV: APK Installer (the “App”) — a downloader, TV web browser, file manager and APK/XAPK installer for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices.

This version replaces the policy dated December 8, 2025, which described an earlier build under an earlier name. The App has since been rebuilt as a native Android application and no longer uses Google Analytics. This document describes what the current version actually does.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • No account, no sign-up, no password. The App never asks who you are.
  • No advertising and no purchases. The App contains no ad network, no third-party analytics SDK, no Firebase and no billing.
  • We do not log what you browse or download. The addresses you type, the short codes you use, the sites you open and the files you download stay on your TV.
  • What reaches our servers: an anonymous device registration, stability reports, and a feedback form if you send one.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade data, and we do not build advertising profiles.

1. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

  • Everything you browse and download — history, cache, cookies, bookmarks, the URLs you type and the numeric short codes you enter. None of it is transmitted to us or logged on our side.
  • Downloaded files — APK, XAPK, APKS, APKM, media and documents, saved to your own storage.
  • File operations — copy, move, rename and delete, including on connected USB drives.
  • The list of installed applications — read on the device so the App Manager can show, back up or uninstall them.
  • Files received from a phone over your local network.

2. HOW THE APP IDENTIFIES YOUR DEVICE

There is no account, so anything we need to count or support is tied to the device:

  • Device ID — the Android ANDROID_ID value provided by the operating system. It is what lets us count one television once instead of counting every restart as a new installation. If the device returns a blank value, a random identifier generated by the App is used instead.
  • Visitor ID — a random identifier generated by the App on first run, used for stability reports.

Neither identifier is linked to a name, an e-mail address or an account, and neither is used for advertising. The App does not read or use the Android advertising ID. We are naming ANDROID_ID here explicitly because a device identifier counts as personal data under the GDPR, even when it is attached to nothing else.

3. WHAT THE APP SENDS TO OUR SERVERS

Our servers (smartago.net and api.smartago.net) receive only the following:

WhatWhenWhy
Device registration: app code, Device ID, backup identifier, Android version and API level, CPU architecture, total RAM and storage, manufacturer, model, brand, whether the device is a TV or a phone, the version and package of the system WebView, app version and build, whether the App was installed from Google Play or sideloaded, and the package name of the application that installed itOnce per device, and at most once a day thereafterTo count installations, to know which hardware, Android versions and WebView versions to support, and to attribute installations to the app or site they came from
Stability reports: Visitor ID, error type and message (truncated), app version and build, Android API level, manufacturer and modelAfter a crash or a freeze. Identical reports are suppressed and the number per day is cappedTo find and fix faults
Interface texts and curated lists: your chosen language codeAt start-upTo download translations and the App’s content lists. This is a download; nothing about you is uploaded
Suggested language: nothing beyond the request itself; the suggestion is derived from your IP address on our sideFirst launch onlyTo open the App in a plausible language instead of English for everyone
Update check: app code and current versionOnly in the version installed from our website, not the Google Play oneTo tell you when a newer build exists, since there is no store to do it
Feedback: whatever you type in the form, plus Device ID, app code and form codeOnly when you press sendTo answer you and to group feedback by app

What is never sent: the addresses you visit, the short codes you enter, the names of the files you download, your bookmarks, your history, or the contents of your storage.

4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES THE APP CONTACTS

  • Any website you open or download from. The App is a browser and a downloader: when you enter an address or a short code, your device connects to that site directly, exactly as any browser would, and that site’s own privacy policy applies. We are not in the middle of that connection and we keep no record of it.
  • api.sendtoquick.com — our own service for the companion “send to TV” feature, contacted only when you use it, to pass a link or file from your phone to this television.
  • speed.cloudflare.com — used by the internet speed-test tool, when you run it.
  • api.nasa.gov — NASA’s public Astronomy Picture of the Day, used as a background image when that option is on.
  • Your own local network — to receive files from a phone, the App listens on your local network while that screen is open. Nothing leaves your home; the transfer is device to device.

5. PERMISSIONS AND WHY THEY ARE NEEDED

PermissionWhy
INTERNETTo browse, to resolve short codes, and to download the files you ask for.
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (“All files access”)The App is a file manager: it saves what you download, reads connected USB drives, and copies, moves or deletes files at your request. It is used for nothing else, and nothing is read from your storage for our benefit.
REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGESTo install the APK, XAPK, APKS or APKM files you downloaded. Every installation is confirmed by you in the system dialog; the App can never install anything silently.
REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGESTo open the standard system uninstall dialog for an app you chose to remove.
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGESTo list your installed applications in the App Manager so you can open, back up or remove them. The list is processed on the device.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGEThe equivalent of the above on Android 12 and older, where “All files access” does not exist.

6. WHAT WE DO NOT DO

  • We do not show advertising and we embed no advertising SDK.
  • We embed no third-party analytics SDK. There is no Google Analytics, no Firebase and no Crashlytics in the App.
  • We do not log, store or transmit your browsing history, your search terms, the short codes you use or the addresses you download from.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it to build advertising or behavioural profiles.
  • We do not collect location, contacts, messages, photos or documents, and the App never uses a camera or a microphone.
  • The App hosts no content of its own. It downloads what you point it at, and what you choose to install is your decision and your responsibility.

7. STORAGE, SECURITY AND RETENTION

  • Everything sent to our servers travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
  • Registration records and stability reports are kept on our own servers for as long as they are needed to support the App, and are accessible only to authorised personnel.
  • Everything held on the device — history, cookies, downloads, settings — is removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall it. You can also clear browsing data from within the App at any time.

8. SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not share your information with other companies or organisations for their own purposes. We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so. Service providers, such as the hosting provider that runs our servers, process data only on our instructions and only to the extent needed to operate the service.

9. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of information relating to you, and to object to that processing.

Because we hold no account, the Device ID is the only way for us to find the records associated with your television. Write to support@smartago.net and we will help you locate it and act on your request.

10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Our servers may be located outside your country of residence. Where information is transferred, we apply appropriate safeguards to protect it.

11. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because it is a web browser and an installer, it is a tool for the adult who sets up the television.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as the App changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and significant changes will be announced on this page or in the App.
